http://www.travibar.com/mozilla/firefox-3.5.2.en-US.win32.installer.exe

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=es

Para Linux: TO-DO (Please read the post about get rid of this message)
Para MAC: TO-DO (You need to compile yourself)

2.-

@echo off
set MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1
start “” “c:\FirefoxParaTravian\firefox.exe” -p
set MOZ_NO_REMOTE=0

ftp://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.5.2/linux-i686/xpi/

This are a few tips to tweak firefox config to meet your needs:

Common to all configurations

These are the settings that seem to be common to all configuration files regardless of connection speed or computer speed with a couple of additions – plugin paths can be found with about:plugins and the bookmark menu delay is turned off.

user_pref(“network.http.pipelining”, true);
user_pref(“network.http.proxy.pipelining”, true);
user_pref(“network.http.pipelining.maxrequests”, 8);
user_pref(“content.notify.backoffcount”, 5);
user_pref(“plugin.expose_full_path”, true);
user_pref(“ui.submenuDelay”, 0);

Fast Computer Fast Connection

user_pref(“content.interrupt.parsing”, true);
user_pref(“content.max.tokenizing.time”, 2250000);
user_pref(“content.notify.interval”, 750000);
user_pref(“content.notify.ontimer”, true);
user_pref(“content.switch.threshold”, 750000);
user_pref(“nglayout.initialpaint.delay”, 0);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections”, 48);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections-per-server”, 16);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy”, 16);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server”, 8);
user_pref(“browser.cache.memory.capacity”, 65536);

A couple settings of note – Firefox is allocated 4096 KB of memory by default and in this configuration we give it roughly 65MB as denoted by the last line. This can be changed according to what is used.

Fast Computer, Slower Connection

This configuration is more suited to people without ultra fast connections. We are not talking about dial up connections but slower DSL / Cable connections.

user_pref(“content.max.tokenizing.time”, 2250000);
user_pref(“content.notify.interval”, 750000);
user_pref(“content.notify.ontimer”, true);
user_pref(“content.switch.threshold”, 750000);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections”, 48);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections-per-server”, 16);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy”, 16);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server”, 8);
user_pref(“nglayout.initialpaint.delay”, 0);
user_pref(“browser.cache.memory.capacity”, 65536);

Fast Computer, Slow Connection

user_pref(“browser.xul.error_pages.enabled”, true);
user_pref(“content.interrupt.parsing”, true);
user_pref(“content.max.tokenizing.time”, 3000000);
user_pref(“content.maxtextrun”, 8191);
user_pref(“content.notify.interval”, 750000);
user_pref(“content.notify.ontimer”, true);
user_pref(“content.switch.threshold”, 750000);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections”, 32);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections-per-server”, 8);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy”, 8);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server”, 4);
user_pref(“nglayout.initialpaint.delay”, 0);
user_pref(“browser.cache.memory.capacity”, 65536);

Slow Computer, Fast Connection

user_pref(“content.max.tokenizing.time”, 3000000);
user_pref(“content.notify.backoffcount”, 5);
user_pref(“content.notify.interval”, 1000000);
user_pref(“content.notify.ontimer”, true);
user_pref(“content.switch.threshold”, 1000000);
user_pref(“content.maxtextrun”, 4095);
user_pref(“nglayout.initialpaint.delay”, 1000);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections”, 48);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections-per-server”, 16);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy”, 16);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server”, 8);
user_pref(“dom.disable_window_status_change”, true);

One of the changes made for this particular configuration is the final line where the status bar is disabled for changing web pages to save processor time.

Slow Computer, Slow Connection

We have entered the doldrums of the dial-up user

user_pref(“content.max.tokenizing.time”, 2250000);
user_pref(“content.notify.interval”, 750000);
user_pref(“content.notify.ontimer”, true);
user_pref(“content.switch.threshold”, 750000);
user_pref(“nglayout.initialpaint.delay”, 750);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections”, 32);
user_pref(“network.http.max-connections-per-server”, 8);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy”, 8);
user_pref(“network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server”, 4);
user_pref(“dom.disable_window_status_change”, true);

Firefox 3.1 and up, uses a new JavaScript engine called TraceMonkey to increase browsing speed. However this is not enabled by default because need more testing.

How to enable TraceMonkey?:

Type about:config in the Firefox address bar and click ‘I’ll be careful, I promise’ to the following warning:

In the filter field type: javascript.options.jit.content

Double click on it to change the boolean value from false to true

Restart Firefox to apply changes.

POSTDATA resend warning is a common problem in travian, this is the way to avoid it when you hit the Reload button.

I find two ways to do this:

1.- Patch your firefox executable with a program, but only works if you have the right version.

2.- Download source code of Firefox locate the anoying message and remove it.

I am going to explain the step 2:

a) Locate and download the source code of your prefer mozilla firefox version (mine 3.5.1 at this time).

b) Follow the instructions for you Operating System (

https://developer.mozilla.org /en/Build_Documentation#Get_the_source )

c) Once you have all edit this file:

“SOURCE DIR”\docshell\base\nsDocShell.cpp

In the line 8638 you find this piece of code:

if ((aLoadType & LOAD_CMD_RELOAD) && postData) {
PRBool repost;
rv = ConfirmRepost(&repost);
if (NS_FAILED(rv)) return rv;

// If the user pressed cancel in the dialog, return. We’re done here.
if (!repost)
return NS_BINDING_ABORTED;

Now we comment this section to “turn it off”, /* ..code.. */ to comment.

/*
if ((aLoadType & LOAD_CMD_RELOAD) && postData) {
PRBool repost;
rv = ConfirmRepost(&repost);
if (NS_FAILED(rv)) return rv;

// If the user pressed cancel in the dialog, return. We’re done here.
if (!repost)
return NS_BINDING_ABORTED;
}
*/

If you don’t want to see any message, not only hitting reload button, you can change the function ConfirmRepost.

nsDocShell::ConfirmRepost(PRBool * aRepost)
{
*aRepost = (0 == 0);

return NS_OK;

}

d) Time to compile, create a .mozconfig file and make -f client.mk build, make installer in object dir to create a installer to deploy in other computers.

You can find a installer of 3..5.1 en-US windows version in this location (Private Build):

http://www.travibar.com/mozilla/firefox-3.5.2.en-US.win32.installer.exe

Maybe you need to download this in order to work, if you see a message of paralen configuration error or configuration problem:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en

Select you langauge and download.

Feel free to post you problems here or in the forum:

http://www.travibar.com/forum/index.php/topic,3.0.html

Here is the full message (only works with reload button, if you hit history back, you still can see a confirm dialog):

“The page you are trying to view contains POSTDATA. If you resend the data, any actions the form carried out (such as a search or online purchase) will be repeated. To resend the data, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel.”
